I like this map because all I wanted to do was feature a new map submission but this map is apparently from an ancient hard drive that flagmyidol rediscovered and who knows if this is his map or not? And in reality, who cares if this is his map or not? (maybe the actual original author???) Whether or not this is a map by flag, it's a fun map that flag found and unearthed for us. The dudes a legend, so play this and all his other maps and also read every comment he's ever posted. — origami_alligator

I'm fine with this feature unless somebody claims the map is entirely theirs.
I think this issue comes down to responsibility. origami doesn't have any responsibility over the authors of the map, and can feature any map he wants, it's an unfair precedent to set that reviewers would somehow need to know who created the map regardless of where it was posted.
It would be on flag if this was somebody else's map, and if we were going to delist it for that reason, it should have happened last year.

First of all, sunset, you're right. Regardless of how much traffic the site gets, we shouldn't just let rules slide.
However! It honestly feels like you're giving flag the benefit of the doubt, but then telling me that I'm wrong for featuring this. If you are going to believe flag had some hand in the creation of this map enough to let it stay up, then there shouldn't be any issue with me featuring this.
If you feel that flag definitely didn't have a hand in this, then you should take it down because people shouldn't be submitting maps that aren't theirs.
But until someone can provide evidence that flag didn't at least help create this map, then this map should stay up and this feature should be considered completely valid. Just because someone doesn't remember creating a map doesn't mean that they didn't, and that shouldn't preclude me from being able to feature this.

This isn't an 'unwritten rule',
nor is it anything that can be considered controversial. Nobody knows who made the map in question, so it should therefore stand that, should it be featured, it more than likely will be the case that you are giving the wrong person a featured map. Things like this should not be allowed to slide just because the community isn't "thriving with thousands of visits to the page every day".

I think...
...that if we want rules on featured maps then we should create some. Obviously there are “unwritten” rules (don’t feature a map you’ve collaborated on, don’t write /terrible/ reviews like this one) but I also think that taking this community as seriously as if it were thriving with thousands of visits to the page every day is a bit off. If this were 2009 this would be a different conversation, but it isn’t.
