It is not very often that you see a N-art worth viewing, however this is one of those. Best viewed at the thumbnail size, this piece of art shows true understanding of complementary colours. Depicting an oriental landscape, this map is a truly amazing piece of art, and certainly worth a review. — squibbles

This map is drowning in contoversy.
It's an n-art people, not a playable map. If everyone though that art stank because all you could do with it was look at it, then such treasured classics like the Mona Lisa and Irises would never have been painted. Art should be rated for the work and pain that goes into it, and for the beauty of its whole, not for whether or not it is playable. I don't care what all you controversial fools think, this is a treasure that truely deserved the feature.

nice depth
6/5, best n-art, and only one that i have seen that has the 3-D artistic touch
It does have a certain persona that most n-arts lack. Personally, Id love to see a redraft with some more detailed shading. Imo the fence was unfinished. Also, I liked the vairety of objects used.

whoa...wait...
you say it shouldn't be featured because it's not the best, and then you rate it as flawless?
And who are you to define "best"?

I agree with atob
he's sensible--listen to him. so far great maps have indeed been missing from the featured section, but arguement aside, if N-art is to be featured, it should be the greatest piece of N-art ever, afternoon dragon or whatever. anyway you get my point: this is not even the best ever N-art, nor is it old, so why is it the feature?
btw 5/5 looks nice

Nice
Why are we arguing so much, geez
Unlike what...somebody (i forget who) said, i think it looks kindof unfinished with all those blank spots
4/5 I agree with Blacksons first comment

fantastic
as thumbnail version but if you watch it from closer you see there could have been more objects to colour it.
all in all it's a 4/5

because I dont need to. Eiturlyf basically owned it. And he has a definition on his side, and a reasonable vent for all your pent up unreasonable malcontent (tags).
Personally, I think that any type of map submitted to NUMA can be worthy of a feature. Im sure most of you are just trying to get as far away as possible from the days when Dragonmoon & a shitload of DDAs WAS the top rated page, but with the implementation of the new system, those arguments become pointless. Much like the cursing debate, it is your choice to view it or not.

*Would submit paintings to art exhibits.
Silly typos.

Damnit Mintnut.
Rating a non-playable map as a playable map is just plain ridiculous. You may have come here to find playable maps, but that does not change the fact that N-Arts exist. These N-Arts are not made to be playable (most of them atleast). This is a website for N User Maps. Maps made by N users. It says nowhere that they have to be playable! Artists come here and submit N-Arts like they would send them to art exhibits. If you want to look for playable maps, click the 'playable' tag.

Wow
We've got some highly strung people here.
My opinion on this N-art hasn't changed. I think SkyRay's other one should've been featured.

Nice one
It must've taken a while, but it was worth it. That was the best Nart I've seen.
2008-06-13
Oh shit!
I'm sorry for not allowing you guys your opinion, I've only just realised that by stating mine I have somehow stopped you making any kind of personal judgment.
I should have thought I could spout my views here willy-nilly without having to worry about people pulling the old "That's your opinion! Ha get out of that!" card. Looks like I was wrong.

@fotf: yeah, that wasn't the word i was looking for...
@mintnut: that's your own personal opinion, and I respect that...so show us the same respect and let us have our own.
@astheoceansblue: There's also some formica coming up...it's not only new people.
@SkyRay: No worries...It's really good.

Well, the Cadmus is coming up next, and all of them should appear in the next ten days or less.

From a subjective standpoint, entirely...
not *one* of the featured maps to date deserve to be there. Featured, in my mind, should be about highlighting the truly legendary maps of NUMA. Think back to the earlier archives of: lucidium, lv, tktktk, maximo, stepself, nevermore, atramentis etc...
Of course this is just the kind of ideal ideology that doesn't ever work during application, but I can dream right?
Also, while I agree NUMA should primarily be focused on playability, voting an unplayable map with a playable mindset is pointless. The only reason I can see for that discussion at all is some kind of misplaced sense of superior thought married with a desperate attempt at self-elevation. Trust me on this, we can smell our own.
Oh, and the art is decent.

"I'm rating it as a map."
And most of pheidi's work, indeed, is more than worthy of being featured, I never said anything to the contrary.
2008-06-11
I agree with mintnut.
About n-arts. There can be a NUAA if people want to make art.
And those featured maps are coming up, don't worry.

Gloomp
When are we going to see those maps?we had maybe 1 or 2 old classics and now maps which are only a couple of days old.
2008-06-11
Mintnut
Maps by Cadmus, Necromancer, frogs, and romaniac are all on the first page of the future Featured maps queue.
2008-06-11
Who said i even rated it?
Plus, most of pheidippides' maps have actually been more than worthy of being featured. Speaking of all this, I was under the impression that featured maps would highlight some of the older forgotten maps, but we're getting maps from a few days ago now.
2008-06-11
Oh, i get you,
you think that N arts don't belong on the Pheitured Maps page? Thats fair enough, but surely there's no harm in having N arts stored elsewhere on the NUMA database. Don't rate it low just to make a point though, that only hurts the author.
2008-06-11
I suppose i was supposed to feature
it right off numa's homepage then?
Anyway, I don't give a shit what it's tagged as, N maps should never have been used for art. I'm rating it as a map, and I will fully support the movement of all the n-arts to the NUAA as and when you set it up.

2008-06-11
Uhh, nobody said you had to rate it 5
Furthermore, NUMA features a handy tag system, which sorts maps into playable, and other types such as 'n-art'. If you wish to browse only for playable maps, look out for 'playable' or 'action' tags. Pretty simple. Since, however, this map is tagged as 'art' it should be viewed as such, and not rated based on the same critera you would use to rate a playable map.
2008-06-11
None of you seemed to address my point.
I am not required to admire this as art, I choose to use this website to find hecking good maps to play, I really don't care about n-arts, but I don't want to be told that I have to appreciate this as being an instant 5 just because it's 'art'. If I wanted to admire art i'd go to paris.
Bollocks to art.
Bollocks to art.
Ahahahahah

Mintnut-
Personally, I'm rating this as a map, to be played in N, and for that, it falls well below par, firstly, there is a distinct lack of a ninja to control, or for that matter a door to exit through even if I could. You also seem to have a problem with object clustering, maybe you should turn off z-snap?
That's one of the stupidest things I have read on this site. It was made as an N-ART, hence the 'N-ART' tag and 'ART' tag. Not all N maps have to be playable.
kyozo_43
Saw it had 69 rates.
