Description | Woot Rayman reference. Well, this is my first serious jumper, but... when I finished it, it felt a bit drab... so I added a rocket which made it 'interesting'.
Please rate, comment, and post demos. Thanks :) |

3/5
I think its not too bad for a first "serious" jumper. But, I see a couple things that could be improved.
As far as just the jumps and route go, looks pretty good. I love the start, it got me the first try, thinking that I could do a regular jump over the tile. I think that you left yourself with a not quite enough space with the 2nd mine up on the left side of your channel with the switch. It was a nice touch that a pure jump-and-hold-right doesn't work there, but it was annoying till I figured out how to do it. The drop through the next section of gold was also got a little annoying after a while. Although I like the concept, I think there was also a little bit more room for error that could have been given. The rest of the route was well-touched, I think.
You say in the description that "when I finished it, it felt a bit drab... so I added a rocket which made it 'interesting'." Did it feel drab in aesthetics, or gameplay? Honestly, the only thing extra I got from the rocket was frustration and/or annoyance. The start was the worst offender here. If you didn't get that jump to the right wall just right, the rocket would kill you before you even really got into the map. It also was quite frustrating right before the tip over into the first drop. I had several runs where I was good up to that slope, but couldn't get the tip because of the rocket. All the other places in the map, I was travelling and jumping fast enough that the rocket didn't change my strategy at all. So, I think that the rocket didn't add anything of value to the map, unfortunately. That's the major factor for me rating it a 3 instead of a 4, just those two spots with the rocket.
