It was a more brute force method.

I made a spreadsheet with 19 columns (one for each of the vertical positions) to make series of consecutive numbers for their horizontal coordinates. Then I copied all that to Notepad++ and applied a couple of "substitute all" functions.

I used a similar method (though a bit more complicated) on these maps as well: Sandstorm; Non-Orientable and Laser Microirradiation.
