thats well known...its because you are invincible for a split second after bouncing off a bounce pad...the rocket should kill you, but doesnt. In userlevels it just doesnt kill you, but you are sill effected by all objects.

Glitch

I haven't beat it yet, but I found something interesting while playing it. It's possible to glitch the N game engine and make it so only solid objects apply to the Ninja. Here's how to do the glitch (won't work in NED, MUST DO THIS IN THE REPLAY DATA in user levels) after you get through the first prison hold the right directional key. After that, you should get stuck in the V object, a homing rocket will soon dislodge you and voila! Now only solid objects apply to you.
