Michigan Corn Growers Encouraged to Enter Gallery of Corn Photo Contest
DeWitt, Mich.The Michigan Corn Growers Association (MCGA) would like to invite all of its members to grab their cameras and join in the fun by capturing the beauty of Americas bountiful corn crop. The third annual Gallery of Corn Photo Contest is currently underway.
The top yields from corn producers across the nation ranged from nearly 315 bushels an acre to 229 bushels an acre. Michigans top honors in the 2003 National Corn Yield Contest went to:

The photo contest is a great opportunity for MCGA members to showcase Michigans agriculture and more specifically to highlight our states corn crop throughout the growing season, said Pat Feldpausch, MCGA president and corn grower from Fowler. We invite all our members to get their cameras ready and send in their favorite corn photos.
Contest rules and entry forms are available at www.ncga.com or by calling the MCGA office at 1-888-323-6601. Entries must be postmarked by November 28, 2006. Winners will be announced in December. All winning photographs will be displayed at the 2007 Commodity Classic in Tampa, Fla.
If any Michigan corn grower, their families or others involved in corn production has a photo of corn they wish to submit, but are not a member, all they have to do is join the MCGA. The cost is $60 for a one-year membership, $155 for a three-year membership, or $500 for a lifetime membership. A student membership is available at a cost of $20 for a one-year membership for students enrolled in an accredited agricultural program. Each MCGA member automatically becomes a NCGA member as well.
The chance to enter the photo contest is just one of the many benefits of being an MCGA member, explained Brian Kreps, MCGA chairman and a corn grower from Temperance. In addition to having the opportunity to make their voices heard on important issues at the state and federal level, members also are entitled to free admission to the MCGA annual meeting, free admission to Ethanol Night at the Races, reduced entry fees for farmer golf outings, and lower registration costs for Commodity Classic the combined annual meeting of the NCGA and the American Soybean Association. All of these opportunities give growers a return above and beyond their actual membership cost.
