Map Data

Description Inspired, quite obviously, by the Door Eerie series and the accidental discovery of the doors-become-floors phenomena (floorguards happily run across locked or normal doors, whether closed or open), I set about making a map that really screws with N's dimensions. Doors become floors, ceilings and walls; floors become ceilings, walls become doors, ceilings become floors; thin air becomes any of the three; all three become thin air; floorguards become floors or ceilings (by killing you if you pass into their range even though they're running over thin air).

This is my second submission for LM&RNI (link in my previous map's description). More of a conceptual feat than an excellent level, it still plays rather well, which I feel is important.

Once you get to the two floorguards on top of each other, the difficulty ramps up considerably, so be careful :x

Edit: Significant number of loopholes closed. Think I got them all now :)

Ugh

Thought 3-tile sets would be impossible to pass. Damn you! *works to fix everything*

I like it...

But it's too easy to cheat. Check my demo.

The idea goes

A lot of maps have not used tiles, that is an old trick and basically a given. Several have enemies, but I haven't seen floorguards used in quite this context. The idea was to use each door in multiple contexts, whether it be a wall that becomes a door, vica versa, a floor that becomes a ceiling, or a floor that becomes a door presenting a tough jumping hazard because of the floorguard; basically, a lot of stuff that you *can't* do with tiles.

Amazimgly Cool!

Reminded me a lot of Valves by Lucidium. Very fun, cool map here.

very odd map

doesnt quite make sense but i think your on to something!

I don't get it.

An added mine kills me partway through my original completion, so I get right before the exit switch with this one.

Completion Demo

This took less than 10 tries; then again, I had to playtest individual segments and knew what each part of the map can do :x . Check the demo to make most of the areas less daunting, as you know where the trapdoors will pop up.
