Description | I realized recently that there are probably quite a few lurkers around this site. Some of you may not have numa accounts, or do but only add maps to your favorites, never commenting. Even if the 1% rule [en.wikipedia.org] doesn't quite apply here given the unusual nature of this site and community, it's a safe bet, in my opinion, that there are still maybe 4-5 lurkers for every mapper here. And I think that's awesome. It's very likely that every map submitted here gets at least a few players no matter what. And to those of you who do comment, keep doing so. Mappers are half of what keeps numa alive; the other half is people who play and give feedback. I have extra appreciation for you. But the lurkers are here too (hi Sunset's high school!), and I appreciate your plays as well.
So to EVERYONE who plays my maps, this one's a ded to you! |

“Hey,” said Vivian, “has it been about 10 seconds since we looked at our lemon tree?”
“It has been about 10 seconds since we looked at our lemon tree” replied Ondine.
They turned around, and to their dismay a ninja had snuck into the yard.
“Hey, what the thwump!” Ondine shouted at the intruder.
“It’s a ninja!”
“It’s a ninja stealing our lemons!”

Fast-ish AGD.
I love this. Great aesthetics, the drones are perfect and jumping around is soooo much fun.
5/5.

no idea how I got through the top left; my ninja was visibly trembling in the bottom left after that ordeal.

talking about lurkers
I sometimes get anonymous rates here. and it's not the people I talk around usually.

Funnily enough
this is one of the few places that I don't completely lurk on. And I still lurk. :/
Oh well, back to lurking! :3

Lurkers
I've thought often about cyber-lurkers too. I think their percentage varies on every site based on the amount of interactivity the community provides. Tumblr and other blogging platforms may be as much as 99% lurkers, as most users simply read other's entries.
Social news sites like reddit, 9gag and Pinterest cater to a much greater range of interests and offer a greater opportunity for interactivity. I feel these site's lurker percent is closer to 60%, if it's even that high. Simply comparing imgur views to reddit upvotes nets a 96-97% lurker rate, but that assumes that every registered user that views the image upvotes or downvotes it, which is incredibly inaccurate.
Sites like this one all but demand the user to participate. I can't imagine it would be very satisfying to play or create maps without commenting here. There are very very few highscorers who have never posted on the forums. Some who've only posted once or twice to say hi might be classified as lurkers. I can't see there being more than one lurker for every regular commenter here.
That said, I do agree with you that every map posted is probably played at least once by someone, even if they don't comment or rate. I sometimes just fly in and out of maps through Nreality.
Anyways, here's a AGD with lots of room for improvement.

1 frame better than lifdoff AGD
like I get that this is a relatively simple map and I'm aware that I'll probably wake up tomorrow and look at this and think, "Well it's good, but I really thought it was THAT good?" but right now I do think that it's THAT good
so maybe this is like I'm drunk-texting your map "5aved!" and I'll question that decision tomorrow but I'm not questioning it right now and I don't really care what my future self will think because he is not who I am right now
we all change over time and eventually we become completely different people than we were in the past and it's impossible to say that any of those people we become are better or worse than the people we were before and the person I am right now thinks that this map is perfect in aesthetic and form and so isn't that all that really matters? so maybe I'll eventually change my mind about how perfect this map is, but one thing won't change
somebody, somewhere, at some point in time, thinks that this map is perfect
