Map Data

Description Last Round of the CMC 2.

Theme: Urban/Sub-urban
Concept: Bounceblock crap.

This map was featured on 2009-06-27

Once again, we’ve got an example of Spudzalot’s conceptual genius, but this time from a completely different field. Whereas Arc/Ark/Arch was focused on progression and subtly manipulating the oneways, Renegade just turns gameplay completely on its head.

In the first corridors, I actually stopped and thought about how to negotiate the mass of bounceblocks in the fastest time. Despite initially cramped settings, the enemies are all handled expertly; always present but never annoying. And then, we move onto the exterior top half, which contrasts expertly with the corridors below, whilst still using those bounceblocks in different ways.

Outstanding stuff, Spudz. — Guitar_Hero_Matt

OH GOD.

I CAN'T ESCAPE ;_;
"...don't take what I say seriously. just sometimes you piss me off :)"

Stop being so serious. Prove your worth and everything is hunky dory. Finito.
There is a difference between what you said ("GHM, I hope you were high when you wrote this";"well done on not making a retarded review this time") and neutral criticism ("the review didn't talk about the map at all, the intro was terrible, and your use of 'heavy heart' is just wrong"). To answer your question, I would draw the line at offensive language and personal insults.

bah

now you're kind of contradicting yourself by saying we are all allowed to critique any review, but we can't rant? In that case, were do you suppose we draw the line?
I didn't mean "Dude, sucky reviews happen, get over it", I meant "If you think it's sucky, please put forth that opinion in a way that's appropriate. Getting all emotional about it and dissing the reviewer and his mental capacities is neither constructive nor appropriate." So yes, of course the reviews are fair game. I just don't like the ranting.

ganteka got it.

although this "concept" is nothing new; it was promising, especially in the thumb I thought. But I found it too awkward and stilted but unlike ganteka I don't think I'm a bad player.

Don't get me wrong - this is a good map! I just wouldn't consider this one feature worthy either as I found little replay value..

3.5 down.

Don't like it.

I have to agree with the haters/dissenters.

Thankyou Radium. Because we totally havent heard you say that before.
I can't understand why the authors are expected to take heat from critics, but when you speak your mind about the quality of the review for the same map; especially when it's mostly negative, the reviewers and indeed other users such as nexx (sorry to use you as an example) try and silence you. Well I've got news for you - If you make poor reviews I will slate them just as hard as when you select a poor map to review and I believe I have every right to do it.

Thank you.

haters

gonna hate.

HOLY CRAP

I always get featured maps when I go on trips, its amazing. I cant wait for my next trip. ;)

Thanks for the feature.
a very bland carbon-copy of the post-modern genre; this map was more or less a series of gimmicks using bounceblocks primped with fancy looking tiles. I also have to agree with Techno too, there was no connection between each section, more like a series of seperate mini-challanges that became "annoying" as PNI said.
was the varied use and implementation of enemies. i would have preferred that the gold look nicer, but the theme was well implemented, and it was fun to explore. 4.005/5
...This one seemed all over the place.
The concept is a good one in theory however...

The reviews

are fair game for critique, as much as the maps themselves.

And there is a standard we aim for regarding the quality of reviews, so yes, Ska has a valid point.

Chill out, ska.

They're map reviews, not English essays. In any case, I agree that this review is better.
well done on not making a retarded review this time.

Great

I really enjoyed this when I played it during the competition. Not sure why I didn't comment, but anyway.

Very cool idea, and the mechanics make for some really fun gameplay.

*thumbs up*

wow , good job! ;)

*thumbs up*
It's player03's mod tweak that I mean, I had nothing to do with creating it.

If not, I fail at following threads :3

For clarity:

this [nmaps.net] is the mod I mean.

The bounceblocks

really don't work for me. The set up is lovely, though.

If you used the nreality bounceblock mod on this, it would be absolutely fantastic.

lol,

i already 5aved this like a month ago i think...

ahah ;_; fuck

Plus, I've been meaning to review this for ages. no more spudz reviews in a while, I need to ween myself off. :/

This is fantastic

Definitely the winner, imo. 4aved for future reference.

great concept

really inventive.
a bit long, imo. didn't like having to return to the exit. felt a bit unfinished in places as well.
nevertheless, very fun.
