Map Data

Description A quickie, in the sense that it only took one mapping session to make. Still between one and two hours of work. There's a pretty smooth AGD path through the main structure if your timing is right, and I'll bet those highscorers could figure out something faster. ;)

Enjoy.

First try AGD.

Beginning didn't fit into the map, but the rest was good. It would be easy to go overboard with drone maze maps.

your maps

are so awesome. wish I could make maps like yours :c

Slow map.

Agree with mintnut, but that's hardly a flaw. I can't believe something this comparatively boring is so good.

pakwan has it right

you should heed his wise words, Pheidi.

Ahaha

Nice one, Pakwan :D
Even if i want to play this leisurly, i can take my time and still enjoy the antics of those silly drones.

AGD-1

I honestly didn't think the drone timing was that great, I would've liked to chimney up that first part a lot faster. But it was still fun.

he knows what he's talking about.

welcome

Listen to the following and you'll improve quickly:

Don't put gold right along the path - it's meant to offer an extra challenge.

Most people start with tiles first then add objects, but it's up to you.

Usually, less enemies is better, fewer enemies can offer a challenge without making it frustrating.

1 enemy can do the job of 3.

Don't lock enemies behind doors.

Watch where you put your trapdoors. If they lock the ninja in a corner or a place where you can't get out, it's a bad idea to place it there.

Feel free to ask questions.

Just keep mapping - You'll start to understand what makes a good map.

Always listen to advice from respectable authors.

Don't hide enemies or items.

Don't spam items or enemies or maps.

Only post 2 maps on Hot Maps at a time.

Play other people's maps. . . a lot.

Learn new things, and try new ideas and concepts.

If you devolp a style that works, stick with it if you want to. If not, that's fine too.

Playtest ALL of your maps (Can't stress that enough).

Anyway, Welcome to NUMA

@ Velocirooster,

Your faster start broke up the smooth route I was looking at. I was taking longer to ascend the first column, so the drones got into a different position. I use your start in my demo, though, just to see what I could do with it.

@ mintnut, the demo shows why I had them surface-follow. It's a little more to keep track of, but it allows you to demonstrate some moar skillz, which helps spice it up to balance the length.

@ Everyone else, thanks for the comments. Glad you liked it. ^^

AGD

It is a little long and boring, and it wasn't as smooth as I thought it would be in the main structure. It was nice that you had something different at the end though. Solid map. 4/5

But it's soothing to watch... :)

Why did

you make the bottom drones surface follow? That tripped me up so many times, it created an inconsistency in their paths which I couldn't reconcile.
I never spend less than one hour on a map..

And I love this one. This is, in fact, one of the best drone maps I've played yet. Everything is placed perfect, and it's really beautiful.

Oh Pheidippides...

I wish I was a reviewer so I could review your amazing maps and just ramble on about their awesomeness. :D

This wasn't my favorite map from you, but I still loved it a lot. The drones were schweeeet.

Yay

finally someone else who takes a long time on maps too <3
