P 4 P 3 R W0RLD

I) Intro

Sometimes i draw levels on my curse in the classroom because i'm bored. And a week ago I decided to do the opposite...
The reality become fake and the fake become reality :D
Then, during all this week, i've worked hard on this level. Tileset, objects, image, gameplay, ideas,... I paid attention at everything :)

II) Images

There are a lot of custom icons in this level and i've passed a lot of time on it, pleaze take it in count.
I am really disappointed that some objects dont do sound or don't disapeared when you take them but it's not my fault ! If someone have an idea for that pleaze tell me.

this idea is completely original. A 3 for you. But squibbles is right, Half of the maps I have four or fives on shouldn't be that high. But I still kind of enjoyed this.

in your concept. The map itself, is by no means bad. Trying an all gold demo is pretty fun and a good design. I think it is great to make a map that is easy to finish for beginners and the like, but provides a decent challenge for AGD. I think this is a fantastic job, that could have been phenomenal with a little better map.

Just the sheer volume of comments, lets you know you did something here.

3/5 if it were just an N map. 5/5 for the cool classroom drawing feel. 4/5 overall.

This demo was my third try. None of the images had loaded yet XD. It was like playing in the dark or something...
Squibbles makes some good points, focus on those instead of his rate :/

Yes, it's a nice concept, but it's not revolutionary. Another downside is the extremely long loading time, though I know it's probably the game's fault. Next of all, the gameplay is extremely bland. The tileset is unimpressive, and the enemies felt as if they were just thrown in there. The only part that somewhat went away from being generic was the upper left part.

Finally, you should learn to accept constructive criticism. I'm not sure how old you are, but from your mature posts I would think you would be old enough to accept other people's ideas.

Keep up the great art though, it's really nice. 3/5

Personally I gave it a 3/5, I thought the image was excellent.

Now, TheBlackLion, 2/5 isn't a snipe. Really, a sniper would have to be retarded to snipe using 2's. Secondly, no one snipes maps because a long standing member of the community writes out a long and constructive post and rates 2/5.

I just gave it a single, honest rate. That isn't sniping. 2/5 is also, not a n00b-map rating. I give those 1s and 0s, for being especially appalling. 2 is below average. Nothing more, nothing less. Just that.

I notice this often in mappers' attitudes, and now seems an appropriate time to bring it up. Nobody can accept a rating less then 3. 3, for some reason, is perceived to be "bad". 3 is above average, which is a good rating. 4 is excellent. 5 is impeccable. This means that 2 is below average. In theory, 50% of maps should be rated less then, or exactly 2.5. I accept that many people round up, so we'll say 50% should be 3 or less. Given that, 2/5 doesn't seem so bad now, does it? You could be just off being in the top half of mappers in the /world/ with 2/5.

That was long winded, and I may have gotten lost, so let me just reiterate the important part. 2/5 is an acceptable rating. There should be many more maps rated 2/5 then there are.

More importantly, I believe you missed the most important parts of my comment(s). Rather then focusing on the rating, look at my suggestions. I realise in retrospect that the first is irrelevant, but the rest still apply, and they are key to becoming a better mapper.

Finally, most importantly, I think you missed the biggest part: "Do you want short-lived recognition, or to gift the community with good maps?"

Sure, everyone could 5ave your maps, and you could get a nice pretty histogram, but without people dropping 2s and criticism, you won't improve, so here's a deal. I can help you become a better mapper, or I can do as the majority of NUMA do, and pretend you're already perfect, and give you mindless 5s. Which do you want?

2/5 is as reads (below average)
which i thought this was, you did quite a good job with some of the imaging, and obviously put some real work into this

but as a player, playing through this map thoroughly, not being able to enjoy the map, led me to the conclusion that this deserves no more than below average

i don't think a map should be rated on the work put into it, as that may be a factor in some people's judging, i find that the map as a whole, aesthetically and in playability is what it should be judged on

i found this map somewhat cluttered, and it just didn't come together for me

But i totally disagree with some point and i'm dissapointed you sniped my map ( i think some ppl decide to snipe my map after read tour comment :(). I agree with your explaination but you've rate my map 2/5. It's not justified. 2/5 is for noob level... I agree that my level is not perfect, but i don't think it's a bullshit. Pleaze think at it ;)

I like the image, but it creates a few problems: I can't tell what gold I already have, I can't tell if I hit the switch, the drones don't make noise, and the mine on the right in the tunnel on the left is nearly invisible.

The objects are not on the background. The object icons are on the object icons level, ie, object level. Tiles -> Background -> Objects -> Foreground. When the objects are grabbed, they don't disappear just because that's how it works.
It just added to the whole charm.

I love what you did with the whole hand-drawn concept. Agree with palemoon, the one-way idea was awesome. It would have been better if when you collected the gold, it had disappeared and also when you collected the exit key it changed colour, and the drones eyes moved. But overall, this was awesome. fived.

The aesthetics are very pleasing. :)
but squibbles makes some very good points. I suggest you really try to follow them... especially with the triggers and the gold and mine advice.

you could make another image map, but this one have better gameplay and some advice taken from others... plus a lot more bouncies =D
