Map Data

Description This map has no exit. It lacks doors, and while there are many nooks and crannies, none of them contain gold, or any incentive to explore them. I could very easily stick an exit in, add some locked doors and gold, and make a regular map out of it. I don't want to do that. Littering my map with a plot forces you into doing exactly what I want you to do. If I neglect to make you scour some corner of the map for some object, most of you will just ignore it in your quest for a speedier run. And if I fill every possible spot with gold, no matter how tastefully done, the treasured AGD will become a huge frustrating pain.

I understand that you guys are used to maps with clear-cut goals, obvious endings, and that my open-ended creations may be unfulfilling. My goal is to make maps that are aesthetically pleasing, fun to play, and most importantly, interesting to explore. Even if there's only gold in one section, I worked hard to make the others interesting to play as well. The point of this is that you have to choice to do what you want: you can play as much or as little of this map as you want. Getting to an exit isn't the goal, even getting all the gold isn't the goal. The goal is to experience the thrill of evading a laser, dodging a rocket, leaping a floorguard.

You are more than a ninja. You are an adventurer. Act like one.

I really agree with Squibbles' assessment of you. You're really quite inspiring. :)
The gold/mine thing was really nice as well. I can see what you're trying to do, and the lack of an exit does make for a very different atmosphere, but I don't think the object placement is quite all the way there yet. What you're doing is very conceptually interesting, I'll definitely stay tuned.
